Applications for the research postgraduate programmes and the six taught postgraduate programmes (except M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Communication programme) open in September every year. Applications for the new taught postgraduate programme, the M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence and Communication are expected to open in January 2027.

  • Information Session for Taught Postgraduate Programmes will be held online on 10 October 2026 (Sat), 10am-12nn. (Register Here by 12:00nn, 8 October 2026)
  • Consultation Sessions for Research Postgraduate Programmes will be held online from 21 to 23 & 26 October 2026. (Register Here by 6 October 2026)

Scholarships and Awards

Hong Kong Practicing Journalists Scholarship

Successful local applicants to the M.A. in Journalism programme are eligible to apply for the Scholarship for Hong Kong Practicing Journalists. Both Full-time and Part-time students are eligible to apply. There will be a maximum of three awards annually. The amount of each award will be HK$80,000.

Internationalization Scholarship

International students who are admitted to one of the postgraduate programmes of School of Journalism and Communication are eligible to apply. They should be able to add significantly to the international flavor and diversity of the student body; demonstrate excellence academic performance and potential. Five awards with HK$80,000 each are available each year.


The awardee(s) must commence their studies in the School in September of the awarded year. The Selection Panel will nominate the award(s) based on academic merit assessed on the basis of the candidate’s application materials for admission.
