Is excellence in English a requirement for admission?

Yes. All applicants should fulfill the English Language Proficiency Requirement. They must 1) possess a pass grade in English in one of the following examinations: HK Advanced Level Examination (AS Level), HK Higher Level Examination, CUHK Matriculation Examination; OR 2) have a degree from a university in Hong Kong or taken a degree programme of which the medium of instruction was English; OR 3) achieve Level 4 or above in the English subject of the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) examination; 4) submit a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), or 79 (internet-based) or IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5. *TOEFL and IELTS are considered valid for two years from the test date.

Do I have to understand Cantonese Chinese to enroll in your programme?

Applications from both Chinese and non-Chinese students are welcome. Understanding of English is required. Required courses of the programme are accessible to both English and Chinese speakers. There will also be enough elective courses for English and Chinese speakers to choose.

Where is the location of the classes? Would they be located near the MTR University Station?

Most of our evening & weekend classes are located at Chung Chi College. While some of the classes are located at New Asia College, students can arrive there by University shuttle bus directly.

What is the M.S.Sc. in Corporate Communication about?

As a comprehensive postgraduate programme in corporate communication for working professional, the course provides classes which integrate the areas between communication, organization, management and stakeholders with a strong focus on up-to-date issues in the business world. Students learn how to manage these correlations, integrate the concepts and apply theory to practice. The curriculum provides a comprehensive range of courses carefully designed to fall into five categories, namely: Communication, Organization, Management, Stakeholders and Issue.

Who should apply for the programme?

The Programme is uniquely designed with flexibility for two types of people.

The first type includes current corporate executives, who are either early in their career or in mid-level management positions, in one of the following: government; commercial businesses; media; and not-for-profit organizations. With a few years of practical experience in corporate communication / public relations, they wish to: sharpen their analytical, managerial and leadership skills; become acquainted with theories in corporate communication and public relations; and broaden their horizons in managerial planning, stakeholders’ relations, communication in different organizational settings, and issues management.
The second type of applicants is aspiring, recent graduates, from disciplines other than public relations, who wish to start a career in this area on completion of this Programme. Recent and fresh graduates, from various disciplines, who wish to begin a career in corporate communication, can apply. They will be able to obtain a comprehensive overview of the public relations industry after studying the course.
